A: All data you shout privately is protected by industry-standard AES encryption so nobody can eavesdrop on your transmissions.
A: There is no size limit on stuff you can transfer – the receiver just needs enough disk space.
A: If you choose to shout something with the attribute public, everybody around you will receive your message or content.
A: They are in the standard ‘Downloads’ directory and can be accessed via the ‘Downloads’ system app. Media files can be accessed via the default Gallery app.
A: shoutr can send a whole lot of different data – contacts, events, media, etc. For this, it needs to be able to access to corresponding data sources.
A: Please try again and send feedback back to us via the side menu – the contained debug info will be extremely useful for fixing the problem!
A: First of all, your device apparently needs WiFi. Then, there a some devices that exhibit non-standard WiFi behaviour that makes shoutr unreliable. Those include the Nexus 10, HTC One M8, Samsung Admire and Sony Xperia Z.
A: Easy! Just disable background scanning in the side menu. You will lose background notification of shouts though.
A: Unfortunately, Apple has some legal restrictions which make distributing a shoutr-like app on iOS extremely difficult.
A: Yes, there is a desktop version of shoutr currently in Beta phase for Linux. Windows and OS X coming!
